6) Wood cover on concrete floor:

T & G flooring may left floating on top of battens (assuming level floor is available) or fixed as required. Battens must be notched where pipes cross (notch to suit floor covering fixing), edge insulation must be fixed to the end of each batten run.
For the infill use 7 or 8:] sand/cement mix. Where thin stripwood flooring is to be applied as a final finish, thin plywood may be laid and fixed to the battens first if required.

Handling: Flooring must be stored within the room it is to be fitted with the heating on gently, for at least one week to allow acclimatisation to take place. Large room temperature fluctuations must be avoided during this time. Suggested room temperature during this time not to exceed 20°C. Refer to flooring manufacturer for specifics.

7) Basic construction between joists with infill:-

Insulation should be fixed at the end of each Joist run to take up any longitudinal expansion. The top of the heating pipes should be arranged to be approximately level with the top of the joists to minimise the amount of infill required and thus save weight.
Use 'stand-off' grid supplied with the 'feet' uppermost to minimise depth. Joists should be notched in accordance with building regulations and to suit position of floor covering fixings. Joists should be notched to a depth of 17mm to accept pipes.

8) Basic construction over joists retaining joist integrity

The infill consists of a 10:1 sand/cement or a 8:1 'Lytag' lightweight aggregate/cement mix with enough water to hold the mix together, the additional load imposed on the floor by the infill is approximately 18Kg/m2 for lightweight aggregate infill to 30Kglm2 for sand/cement infill, (includes area taken up by joists of average thickness and assumes that the battens are Installed at the correct height from the top of the joists).
The infill is not Intended as load bearing merely as a heat transferance medium.
